My name is Shannon and I’m a Masters graduate from University Maryland University College in the field of Learning Design and Technology. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, two dogs, and dog like cat; painting; drawing; watching fantasy and sci-fi movies or TV shows; and baking.
I started my career path years ago while working in Lending. The Human Resources staff at the credit union I was employed for recognized me for my exceptional customer service skills. They sent me off to the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), where I attended a week long boot camp to become a certified trainer for their Customer Service program. I later became certified in their Sales Strategies training, as well, and taught both these courses to my credit union team members; at the time a team of 300.
I am a highly competent Human Resources Professional with experience supporting upper management and executive level staff in the healthcare, hospitality, and finance industries. Throughout my career I’ve worked with multiple managers, discussing their team needs and assisting with employee relations, recruitment strategies, and training needs. I have the ability to think critically and respond quickly to a number of confidential issues in an ethically sound manner. My background includes 6 years experience with onboarding, HRIS, employee relations, benefits, and 7 years experience in employee training.
My work in Human Resources led to a love of watching people learn and grow, bettering themselves. I wanted to expand upon my training background and I found the field of Instructional Design. I would now be able to use my background and creativity to assist others on their own career paths. I have knowledge in multiple training platforms and techniques including online classrooms and e-learning, lectures, class interactive discussions, and hands on methods. My strengths include dependability, flexibility, and strong communications, both written and oral. I’m always looking to expand my knowledge and skills and believe in working hard towards goals.
With my unique background, I am able to provide insight regarding training tips and techniques for adult learners in the working world. I’ve worked in multiple industries ranging from small family like firms of 200 to large corporate entities with thousands of staff. These opportunities have given me a strong diverse background I can pull from to inspire and create.
